Raid Your Jewelry Box - Customer FAQ

What Is Raid Your Jewelry Box?

Raid Your Jewelry Box is a service Lava offers customers with gold or platinum jewelry they no longer use.

Lava facilitates an evaluation by a jewelry-buying partner. If you accept the dealer’s offer, you can convert the amount into Lava shopping credit toward an approved new purchase or custom order.

What Should I Look For?

Start with everything you’re NOT wearing and are genuinely ready to let go.

Examples include:

  • Old gold or platinum jewelry
  • Broken chains
  • Single earrings
  • Mismatched pieces
  • Bent or damaged jewelry
  • Pieces that are no longer your style
  • Jewelry you haven’t worn in years
  • Inherited pieces you don’t intend to wear

If you’re unsure, send us a photo first!

Does the Jewelry Have to Have Been Purchased From Lava?

No.

You can submit eligible gold or platinum jewelry regardless of where it was originally purchased.

How Do I Get Started?

Email photos of the pieces you’re considering to help@lavafinejewelry.com.

Our team will review them and let you know the next step.

Do I Have to Pay to Ship My Jewelry?

No. For pieces proceeding through the program, Lava will provide a free insured shipping label.

Please do not send jewelry to Lava without first contacting our team and receiving shipping instructions.

Who Determines the Offer?

The offer is made by Lava’s jewelry-buying partner, not Lava.

Lava is facilitating the service for our customers.

How Is My Jewelry Valued?

This program is primarily intended to recover the precious-metal value of jewelry you are no longer using.

The dealer considers the eligible precious-metal content when making an offer.

This is different from the original retail price of a finished piece, which may have included design, craftsmanship, labor, gemstones, branding and retail margin.

Is This a Jewelry Appraisal?

No.

The dealer’s offer should not be interpreted as an appraisal of your jewelry, its original retail value, replacement value, collectible value, or potential resale value as a finished piece.

Is Lava Consigning or Reselling My Jewelry?

No.

This is not Lava’s consignment, resale, or Upgrade Program.

Lava is facilitating a precious-metal transaction with a jewelry-buying partner.

What If I Don’t Like the Offer?

You are under no obligation to accept it.

If you decline, your submitted property will be returned according to the program’s return procedures.

What Happens If I Accept?

Once you accept the dealer’s offer and the transaction is finalized, the applicable amount will be added to your Lava account as shopping credit toward an approved new purchase or custom order.

Can I Use My Credit on Any Lava Item?

Not necessarily.

Raid Your Jewelry Box credit applies to approved new purchases and custom orders. Eligibility may depend on the particular item or transaction.

Our team can confirm whether your desired purchase qualifies before you commit.

Can the Credit Pay for My Entire New Purchase?

Program credit is intended to be used toward an approved new purchase or custom order.

Please speak with our team about the specific piece you’re interested in and how much credit can be applied.

What Happens to Diamonds or Gemstones?

We can return gemstones recovered during processing to the customer upon request or hold them for use in a future custom project.

Many small or commercial-quality stones may have little or no independent resale value, but we understand they may still have sentimental or potential future use.

If your piece contains gemstones that are important or valuable to you, please tell us before accepting the dealer’s offer so we can document the appropriate instructions.

Should I Send Valuable Designer, Antique or Collectible Jewelry?

If you believe a piece may have meaningful value beyond its precious-metal content, send us photos and information first.

Precious-metal recovery may not be the best disposition method for a valuable finished, collectible, antique, or designer piece.

What If the Piece Has Sentimental Value?

If you aren’t genuinely comfortable letting a piece go, don’t send it for precious-metal recovery.

Start with the pieces you know you don’t want anymore—the broken, mismatched, damaged or unworn things that have been sitting in your jewelry box.

Can I Just Send Everything and Have You Tell Me What It’s Worth?

Please send photos first to help@lavafinejewelry.com.

We’ll help determine which pieces appear appropriate for the program before providing shipping instructions.
